    half a coconut
Did you get it from an African or European swallow?
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

    Re: New snake!

What do you mean by leave him alone? You don't want to handle him right after he has eaten. If you mean handling him in general, it depends on the snake...if he is really skiddish...you may want to try putting your hands in the enclosure and letting him get used to your hands being near him a bit without touching him...see if he comes to you to check you out. Let him crawl across your hands and so forth. See if he will let you pet him without picking him up. If he will let you pick him up, go ahead and try to handle him a little bit each day, as long as he doesn't seem too upset by it. But if he has just eaten, wait until the next day before trying to handle him.

    Re: New snake!

    Congratulations!
Its a good idea to give them a day or so to digest their food before handling them- they may throw up their last meal if they get too excited.
I've found that handling them for a little while, nearly every day is a good way to get them accustomed to handling. Mine now want to be fed every time they are handled!
