    A possible problem??

So i was checking out some gaters on a reptile site and noticed that they are feeding them red worms. I know this to be a big no-no as is with goldfish. What would be the long term repercusions of this? Do you think they are still safe to buy as I would NOT continue the red worms as part of the diet?? I would not like to call out the store publicly here but will gladly PM anyone interested in looking at the site. I have emailed the site asking them about specifics of their feeding the red worms. Hopefully I will get a reply back soon.

It's my understanding that the effects, if there are any, would be immediate. Regurgitation etc.

The etc. could be death if they can't regurgitate.

Ok so I would be ok then. I don't think I will purchase one from this specific store anyways. Thanks for the replies.

I know you said you emailed the store...if you could at least attempt to educate them on the dangers of feeding the red worms to the garters that would be good. They may not listen, but they might surprise you. I had a recent experience with an online store that was feeding crickets and rosies in which I was able to email the manager and he ended up being very receptive to my advice.

Lol well I did include the dangers and other possible feeding possibilities in my email to them. I was cordially with them in my email so hopefully being nice helped out...

Good...I'm glad you said something. That's all you can do...and just hope they listen. You did your part though. I think it is important for us to at least try to educate people when they are misinformed about garter snake care.

Their 'red wigglers' could be mis-labled. I found so called 'trout worms' that where really dew worms... twice from different packaging bait suppliers. Both times the worms where good dew worms/night crawlers.
