    Smile Hello ;-) & Question

Hello, I am new here and greet all garter snake fanatics.
Also I ask for the help in classifying 2 species:

    First one: http://www.img.galeria.ultrahost.pl/...58af657f39.jpg

    Second one: http://www.img.galeria.ultrahost.pl/...6011f4d8a7.jpg

I need to know species and sub-species.
I apologize for mine mistakes and ask for the leniency. Mine English not is good.
Thanks for the help and I greet from the Poland

Hi Krzysiek, and welcome to the forum.
Your English is fine, I understand you perfectly well, it's certainly better than my Polish!

You have two Ribbon Snakes, Thamnophis sauritus (I believe), I cannot say the sub-species from the photos.... and Ribbon Snakes aren't my strong point. I'm sure someone will be able to help you though.

Edit: On second thoughts... that first picture could be T. proximus, the dark ventro-lateral stripe appears to be absent. Anyone?

The lateral stripe is too high to be T. sirtalis. Shame the picture isn't just a little sharper. I think she's gravid too!

    Welcome here
I'm not sure about the first one, could be a T.sauritus indeed. But the second one is a T.proximus proximus, we have them as well. Yours is a very nice one with a lot of blue !! Telling from the picture I should say you have a pregnant female there (or am I totaly wrong about the size??)

    Re: Hello ;-) & Question

The second photo is DEFINATELY Thamnophis proximus orarius.
The first looks like Thamnophis sauritus (subspecies).
