    Hibernation ended!

Today I ended the hibernation of all of my garters.
Sadly one of them died. (thamnophis cyrtopsis cyrtopsis) I noticed some strange things on him and will open another topic to deal with that.
All snakes where nice and cool, so I got an excellent chance at taking some pictures. Hope you enjoy!

At one of my parietalis males, I noticed he had a lot of scaring on his belly.

That looks like dehydration to me. When snakes dehydrate, their belly sometimes develops a "fold" in the skin. A good soak and plenty of fresh drinking water may help.

    Re: Hibernation ended!

I have weighed all snakes before and after hibernation.
For the ones that are interested, I have an Excell file with their weights.
To putt things short, Almost all snakes have lost 2 to 4 grams. Two snakes lost 8 and 10 grams and one snake gained 4 grams. I have no idea how that is possible...but it happened...
PM me for the xls file

Some really nice photos there, Sjoerd. What camera are you using? That close ups of the parietalis scales is awesome!
