The photo didn't quite meet the theme of the competition this month, he wasn't a scaly friend. Hard to believe it's been nearly a year since we lost the man most responsible for starting me down the slippery slope that currently stands at 13 garters.

RIP John - you wanted to inspire the next generation of keepers, you should be proud of your work.

I like to think that he'd be overjoyed at the fact that his snakes have kept on giving. There's a very happy 11 year old snake keeper here in Scotland that has a 'John special', marcianus (along with many other, older recipients).
Keeping - 'Florida blue' sirtalis, concinnus, infernalis, parietalis, radix, marcianus and ocellatus.

You're right, he'd be chuffed to bits to know that his snakes are continuing to inspire new keepers.

Good post Chris. I miss talking with my friend. When I would call him at the hospital he'd tell everyone in the room to watch themselves because he was talking to a cop. Looks like John would have had another birthday on the 23rd. R.I.P my friend.

We all have been there and will feel that way again. Hang in there.
