Monty finally decided earthworms are yummy! I have plenty of them, we dont fertilize/weed kill or anything so I assume they are a safe food source. He sucks em up like candy. Still will not touch a pinkie no matter how i scent it or warm it or present it. But worms are an okay food source? Better than constant fish? Although he prefers those and will eat em by the dozen.

I have also read that we only have two types of garters in Idaho?? He fits the Western Terrestrial description perfectly. Was wondering why his stripes just didn't fit with the other garters I had been researching and seeing photos of...cream colored and a grey/green base. Was beginning to wonder if I even actually HAD a garter *yikes*.

Anyhow very glad he is eating other things. Whew!

Remember, A very hungry garter will probably eat a worm scented pinky.

A diet of purely worms can have it's problems. Watery faeces is just one but calcium and phosphorous deficiencies can be more serious. Keep offering pieces of worm in a dish with fish pieces and a pinkie and you should have some success.
