Valley garter babies
I found a little suprise yesterday. Actually, 6 of them. A young female that looked way too young to breed and wasn't very fat gave me 6 babies. The problem with this is that 3 of them have a small bumb on their upper body and one has a slightly shorter than average tail with a tiny bump on the tip. I've never had a baby that was born like these. Any idea what would cause it and if the bumps will go away? I am sure the tail is there for good. How will I ever find homes for them if they don't? They are all eating good already, that is one good thing.

Re: Valley garter babies
Tori, can you try to get a picture of the bumps? Seems odd that three of them would have some sort of deformity. Makes me wonder if it's something else, but, of course, I don't have the experience to even try to guess what. Maybe the bumps will be gone in a shed or two?

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Re: Valley garter babies
They are so tiny I am afraid to put any pressure on it, but I don't feel their spines. What would cause over half of the babies to be born with kinks? And one, as I mentioned has a short tail with the same kind of bump on the tip.

Re: Valley garter babies
looks like a genetic deformity.....happens occasionally....I would give them a good life, not breed them either. they should do fine, unless the deformity affects internal organs.

Re: Valley garter babies
Could also be the result of improper temps during gestation.
