Jake or Jacqueline and Sam or Samantha?
Hi Everyone!
Could you kindly give me your opinions on the sex of my 2 easterns(?) I found about 4 weeks ago?
I have tried to take pictures of Jake(or Jacqueline) and Sam (or Samantha) but as you know its hard and I don't want to stress either snake.
Both snakes are fairly plump. They eat Minnows and earthworms very well. I can not feel any babies in their bodies though.
I would love for either one of them to be gravid! But, I'm unsure of their sex. My best guess they look to both be female (based upon my limited knowledge...)
Would absolutely love to have some little Garters soon!
I love Garter snakes!
Thanks to everyone for taking a look at my picture and giving me your estimates if these are both female and if you could possible tell if either one is gravid. Again, they both look plump toward their rear-ends
Love this forum!

Re: Jake or Jacqueline and Sam or Samantha?
I'm not good at this and it's more a guess where others can tell definiatively, but I think they're both gravid. The first one, second or middle picture, especially.
But, we'll see. We'll see what the xperts have to say.
2.0 NY Eastern Garters; Peepers, Jeepers
3.1 Western Hoggies; Kenabec, Niizh, Kokopelli, Anasazi
3.0 Puget Garters; Kunikpok, Tungortok, 'Rockster
1.0 Eastern Milk; Carmello

Re: Jake or Jacqueline and Sam or Samantha?
Yeah, no expert here, either, but their short tail lengths make me think female... but I'm not sure I'm seeing a nice taper on the second one(Sam), tho... She does have the bulge of being gravid, but could be getting ready to musk, etc. Looking forward to hearing what the experts say
Tami
Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Neither snake has musked me since I caught them in the wild. The first snake, Jacqueline, just shedded a few days ago...
Both have not had much of an appetite recently...
Anxiuosly waiting to see if either one delivers some babies!
Thanks!
