NY garter snakes
Anyone know where to find wild garter snakes in upstate ny. I want to show my nephew some in the spring but dont know where to start looking

Define upstate... I live in the finger lakes area of the western tier.

That's a few hours north.
State forest hiking areas are a great start, Open clearings near streams and ponds about perfect.

I'm in the Albany area myself. Saratoga County is a great place. The park is...okay. Cherry Plains state park is good. Thatcher Park, in Berne, is also...okay. They can be sticklers about sticking to the trails though. Cherry Plains is probably best. An awesome spot to find easterns and also you might spot some ring necks (maybe.)
