New snake (pics)

i picked up my new garter today. advertised as a "striped garter" but to me it is quite obviously a checkered garter (may be wrong but i dont think i am)

i took her to the vet this morning as soon as i collected her and she is a confirmed female. i will get the results of the fecals on monday.



appologies for the poor picture. i'll get a better 1 as soon as i can.

Nice snake. When you get more photos post a close up head shot and we can check the scale count and see if it is a Checkered or an Eastern.

Looks like a Checkered to me, with that yellow and black area behind the head.

Looks like a checkered to me. "striped garter" eh.....good one!!!! only a few odd morphs don't have stripes!!!

this pic shows her colouration a bit more. i dont want to go for any macro shots yet until she's had a few days to calm down.



she ate a pinkie last night and spent about 30 minutes drinking! worries me a bit that she should drink that much. i'll find out today whether the pet shop gave her water or not!

i just got back from the pet shop i bought her from. apparently they are kept in transport containers to make it easier to care for them. and because of this, they have no water dishes with them.... just a damp piece of kitchen towel.

no wonder the poor girl was thirsty. i'm surprised the damp didn't cause any major harm either.

i may have to go take the last 2 off thier hands. they are £5 each!!! so its more than affordable.
