Hello Everyone,
I have been browsing this forum for the past couple weeks and finally decided to register today. I have kept morph and locality specific boa constrictors for a few years now and just sent a payment for a pair of Neon Blue California Red-Sided Garters. I have read they are feisty, but they look absolutely stunning! They will be my "eye candy" while my boas are...well, both beautiful and on the calm side. No boas have those bright blue colors though, so I wanted to mix it up a bit. I have come across some good care sheets and am purchasing a book specifically about garter and ribbon snakes to better prepare for my new additions this summer. At that point I will be up to 12 snakes...they sure are addicting!
While I do not have any garter pictures to post yet, take a look at my boas here:

Nice boas...anytime you want to post pics of them or talk about them, we have a thread for that: http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/garter-snake-lounge/167-other-pets-non-garters.html

Hello and welcome!
I'm not far from Detroit- just a stones-throw from the above mentioned base. I have one Albino checkered, one self- caught Eastern, and four self caught and captive born Butlers garter snakes. (Our local ditch-snake.)

Welcome. From a sub-zero Glasgow (I don't live here, but I believe it's sub-zero as well at home in Coventry).

I currently live in Southfield (West side of Detroit). I have a funny story about Selfridge, although it was not very humorous at the time. My friend and I had met up with a couple of his coworkers at a bar out there and got a little turned around on the drive home. Well, he accidentally drove right up to the entrance to the base and explained that we just needed to turn around. Well, they made him get out of the car and did some sobriety tests on him to make sure he was fit to drive. They actually brought him into the building for about 20 minutes while I waited in the car. Fun times!!
So I just sent in another payment to the same breeder for some blue Puget Sound babies. That blue is so nice looking. I'm already addicted to these things! lol

Very cool, I work in Brighton and travel to Grand Rapids from time to time, as I have family on the west side of the state and my employer has the company Annual Meeting/Christmas Party in GR.
I hear ya about the small zoo. I tell people the same thing. There are some fish, a cat, 2 dogs, 2.2 Bci morph boas, 1.1 pure Nicaraguan morph boas, 2.2 Belem Brazil Bcc, 4 garters to come (pair of Thamnophis sirtalis infernalis and a pair of Thamnophis sirtalis pickeringi), and 0.1 girlfriends in the house.
That's a lot of mouths to feed! Although, I know a lot of members on here probably have well more than me.

Right...lol...actually, what I meant to say is that I do not have a problem with garters and neither do any of my friends on here. We can stop whenever we want...right guys? I mean...it's not like I need them...*shaking*...I am in perfect control of the situation *looks around in a paranoid fashion*...maybe I'll get just one more...no!....Oh, but I really could use three more...who said that? I'm fine...really, I am...

Welcome, you have great tastes in snakes.
Thank you sir. I just checked out the website in your signature and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the piebald garter, simply amazing. My girlfriend has been asking about piebald ball pythons ever since she saw one at a reptile show we attended, but I'm not sure I would want to spend almost $1,000 on a BP...another boa maybe, but not a BP. Anyway, I will be watching what is happening with those little garters over the next couple years. Hopefully a lot of nice piebald babies are produced that resemble that female.
Good luck

TODAY'S SCOUSE FACTOID
During the Second World War there were 80 air-raids on Merseyside (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool_Blitz), killing 2,500 people and causing damage to almost half the homes in the metropolitan area Since 1952 Liverpool has been twinned with Cologne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne), Germany, a city which also experienced severe aerial bombing during the war.
