It is the funniest thing in the world, the first time you see it.

There's different degrees of yawn as well...
There's the quick yawn to adjust the jaw between pieces of food, then there's the huge 10 second yawn where the top of the head flips right back - that's less frequent... I've only seen ours yawn like that a couple of times, lucky one of those was Lacrimosa our big female Cuitzeo.

Mama lets out one of those "I just woke up" yawns sometimes when I accidentally wake her up. Those are biiiiig yawns.

I like to catch them doing it and then call them "lazy snakes"!

heh, well I was sitting there looking at Glyph's tank, and he started opening his mouth - the first time you see it you are completely caught off guard because you don't know what's happening - it's a real OMG moment.

This was a big one, maybe not 10 seconds but he made a point of stretching each mandible, left and right and then looked at me as if saying, "what are you looking at?"

Yeah, almost like, "Have you never seen a snake yawn?" Meanwhile, we are waiting for something spectacular to happen, like something humongous gets swallowed or the like...:)

Yep...the first couple of times I saw it I thought something was terribly wrong. I still pause for a sec when I see it to make sure that is exactly what is happening and not something else. But it is very cute. Cee Cee can do some pretty impressive big yawns.

Snake yawn are the best. Baby's are even better. Fish Bait does that all the time, I wish I could get a pic of it.

My all time favourite yawns are the first one in the morning.

Feeding yawns are nothing compared to the "wake up" yawn.

I know this is not a garter, but this yawn was epic.

Now that's just showing off Steve. I've yet to catch a yawn when I have a camera ready, and you have a photo of two yawning in the same shot. :)

Haha that's awesome! A choir of snakes! One doing a solo, one doing back-up vocals n one about to harmonize in! lol
You can see the passion in the soloists eyes! As well the angelic look to the back-up singer lol

Yes, Wayne's pic is awesome too...it kind of looks more like the snake is getting ready to eat the person holding the camera rather than yawning!

Okay so I had to come back just to post this ! Out of pure luck seconds ago I saw jade yawn , I saw it's was lucky of me to have seen this because I had just come back from taking a video of her and I was connecting my camera to the computer. I turned around for a second and there it was like clock work ! I get excited over the little things but that's two new things I experienced with her in one day ! :)

Catching a good yawn is great. Of course, she didn't oblige and yawn while you were actually filming her.... :)

That is the craziest picture because that snake does not look like it's yawning...it looks like it's actually talking! Like when they make animals talk on t.v. and they do the computer thing with their mouths to make them move...that's what it looks like!

It's hilarious, as if he's saying, "hi, how are you!" The other other one is looking on as if he is going to roll his eyes. Sort of like this -->

Yep...I remember...and yeah I was thinking the other snake looks like he's thinking..."Yep, he can talk and everything!"...it's a very cool pic!
