View Full Version : Possible problem with sight...

I have wondered for a while now if Cee Cee might have a problem with her sight. Sometimes it doesn't seem like she sees things that are right in front of her nose. When I first took her in I could literally poke her in the face at times and she wouldn't flinch until I poked her...then it seemed to improve but she never seemed to have the same sight as Seely. I have noticed since I got her new enclosure with the doors that open in the front, she seems particulary freaked out...it's as though she cannot see my hands coming from the side so it really spooks her...I was testing her today and she doesn't seem to see my hand approach until it is right in front of her and above her eyes...anything coming toward her from the side really freaks her out. I think I'm going to have to switch her and Seely so that she is in the tank with the top opening again. But I am wondering what is going on...any thoughts?

If it is a vision problem there is nothing you can really do to improve it.
Keeping her enclosure the same will help her feel confident when moving around in it.
As long as she's eating and drinking she'll do fine.
If it is a vision problem it's good she is with you and not out in the wild.

Right...but if she is freaking out because of the front opening enclosure and she was more comfortable in the top opening one...do you think I should just move her back into that one? I think that maybe she can't see my hands coming in at her from the side so it scares her...but she can see them coming at her from above which is why she doesn't get scared when I put my hands in from the top opening tank.

If she has got a vision problems you won't be the only one, isn't it Lora that has Houdini who is completely blind? I think they cope pretty well because of their sense of smell/taste.

Yes...Lora. I'm just trying to figure out if I should move her back into the top opening tank...she seems to be freaking out really bad every time I put my hands in...I don't think she can see my hands coming toward her from the side.
