So some of you may've seen my introduction post and learned that my Storeria dekayi went missing almost a month ago. Well, I found him! He somehow got trapped in a tank I had in my closet. He's weak it seems, but he's alive! I have high hopes that he'll make it.

EDIT: Oh, and I put him in a tub with some water and some cut up nightcrawlers. Just a bit ago I saw him drinking! Hooray!

Lucky find. You'll have to nurse him back to strength. Remind us how old he is?

I don't know how old he is. I caught him. Don't think he's too old though.

How lucky you found him!

He's doing much better today. Much more active. After he drank, and ate (one of the pieces of nightcrawler is missing, so he must've ate it), and warmed up (I put a heat rock under the tub so it would warm him up, but not inside so he could climb up the cord and get out like last time).

Looks like a healthy Storeria to me.

Thanks for posting the picture.

A couple guys told me that the snake looked gravid. Something to do with the tail. I didn't think that was possible, but one of them told me they can store sperm until needed. What do you guys think?

Hard to tell if gravid from the picture, but he is a She..

Well at least I know it's female for sure.

about how thick is the snake?

Skulexander

About a quarter of an inch at the thickest part, probably a tiny bit more. She's also around 12-13 inches long. Hard to tell because she squirms around too much.

That's way too thin to be gravid.

Okay. Thanks! I thought it was unlikely. At least now I know it's female. :)

I was going to say I thought he was a she when I saw the pic you posted earlier...do you have an ideas for a name for her?

Skulexander

No. Any suggestions?

EasternGirl

Well I think someone else already has a snake with this name...but considering her great escape, I'd call her Houdini...if the other person doesn't mind you using the name ;).

Skulexander

That's a good name, but I think it's used too much. How about something else?

How about Eclipse.

Skulexander

That's a good name. But someone else suggested Lilith, which I liked, so decided to call her Lily.

That is a great name! Welcome home Lily.

Oh I like that....Lily is good!

I forget who it was that suggested Lilith to me. Ha ha. Anyway, a couple days ago I fed her two cut up pieces of nightcrawler. She snatched them right outta my fingers! It's so nice when your pet eats from your hand! I'm going to feed her again today.

Good to hear...it is awesome when they trust you like that. Seems like she is happy!

I never ask permission to use a name. No point.
