Very nice snakes. Radixes always look sort of cheerful IMO. Even their "Don't mess with me" look seems more like a "Don't mess with me... Well, if you have a nightcrawler.." look.

As a rule radixes are docile and easy to handle and seem to enjoy interaction.
There are some exceptions to that rule though. I wouldn't know anything about that.
Nice snakes. I want a radix.
Well if I'm lucky I will have some for sale in the nearish future.

And if radixes do what they do best, you will.

Stig a male? I would like to have a look at the underside of the tail.
I see a lot of female traits(facial structure and body girth) in that face and from what tail I can see.
Here's a link to a thread to give you some idea of the photos to post.

I've see that kind of tail on a few of my female radixes. The area South of the tail looks swollen. Look at the way the scales are pushed out.
Possible infection, in my opinion.
Look at the way it just suddenly tappers. Most male tails don't do that.
I'm going with my first impression and say female.
I would suggest a Vet. visit to confirm the infection and treatment.
I of course am only giving my opinion in this situation and don't know these observations to be fact.
I do believe it's something to be checked into.

It was brought to my attention by one(Stefan) more astute then I that this may just be a male with an infected hemipenis.
As Stefan pointed out the depth of the infection seems to be the depth of a hemipenis pocket. I agree with that.
Still a situation that should be looked at by a Vet.
Best of luck.
Please keep us posted on this situation.
He's been to the reptile vet a year ago and she gave him a look over and a feel etc etc and said no cause for concern

There's something going on in that area. Those scales being pushed out isn't normal.
Might be time for a re-evaluation, a lot can happen in a year.
I would be concerned. ;)
I'm not too concerned as he was like that when I got him and he'd been like that as long as they could remember and they had taken him to a vet aswell.

An infection is still an infection and left unattended can lead to other more serious conditions.
An infection that has been around this long shows that the snakes own immune system is in need of some help.
Otherwise the infection would have been taken care of.
I simply point this out as a word to the wise.
Tho I'l prob take him for a checkup just to make sure
