Not only did my two baby checkered garters come home today but our pinto pony mare gave birth to a happy, healthy pinto filly this afternoon, apparently while i was napping!306330643065

Thank you, she wasnt a planned addition to the herd but we love her just the same. Misty my youngest daughter has named her Cloe. If we had planned her she would have been born in the spring or early summer not in the fall. we have chilly nights so she has her own blanket to help keep her warm. She is still pretty wobbley but is nursing well so im sure she will be running around tomorrow. Its actually nice having new life on the farm when everything else is dieing due to the coming winter.

LOL well i will confess that is actually a dog blanket but it really works well for the mini foals. they are so tiny when they are born. She isnt even 2 ft tall.

Thank you all. Mom and baby are doing well this morning when i checked in on them and gave mama some more hay and water. Mama is still holding a grudge from yesterday when i had to lock her away from me and baby to do baby's newborn exam, heart rate, listen to the lungs, disinfect the umbilical stump, check legs and joints etc etc, put on the blanket to help keep baby warm on the cool nights we are having.
