Hey cool I popped a snake!!!

Ive always been scared to pop them, plus I don't like it... I read it hurts them or something, and I just sex them visually.

But, I was having doubts that my checkered was actually male... His tail just screamed FEMALE!! I was annoyed at that, and finally, after weeks of staring at his tail, decided to gently START popping him..

I just did what I've learned, gently, not even all the way, and it was EASY! it's all about finger placement!

Yup. He's male. But I swear, I never would have guessed that...

And no, this doesn't mean I'm gonna go around popping everything. It's just cool to know I can!

hehehehe.... as long as you do it right it does not hurt them. yes, they are annoyed with you, but it's not harmful when you know how to do it. Just a slight roll of the finger and POP! goes the weasel.... :p

A video would be helpful, I agree.

There are a few on youtube but most are for cornsnakes or bigger ones.
Kathy love popping corn snakes - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ1g_kv_jko&feature=related)
Shows how it's done and works the same as garters. Your roll your finger up.

I would practise on known males first :) You have to feel it once.

First I wasnt exactly recommending/suggesting it... I still don't like it. If I have the choice, I won't pop. I only did it cause I HAD to know, for peace of mind.:p

I mean, I'd make a video for you, but I don't want to do it again. (maybe I will)

But yeah the YouTube videos work the same...

It's all about placing your fingers right, really. YouTube "popping a snake" that'll get ya some videos, if not, I guess I'll make one.:D
