View Full Version : A Pleasant Surprise

Yesterday I looked in on my Northwesterns. Looking through the screen front I saw a very pleasant surprise. A baby Northwestern sitting on the rim of the water dish. This little one has been avoiding me since it was born with it's siblings. Unfortunately all the siblings have died(failure to thrive).
This little one seems strong and appears to be doing well. Since they did so poorly after removing them the last time I think I will let the little one stay in with the adults for now.
It eagerly took two earthworms from me so it's eating well.
Good to see they all didn't die.

It's so tiny! Just a quick question, after feeding two worms of that size, how often would you wait to feed again?

Up until I found him I felt like I completely failed the others.
Now I'm hoping to raise this little one up.
A few months from now we might have to do a naming contest for this one.

Knowing Northwesterns I would say she'll be ready to eat again tomorrow.
I will at least try.

They're little piggies, that's for sure!

They're little piggies, that's for sure!

And it doesn't change as they get older. My adults are pigs.

You should see Mama eating. 3 pinkies, 2 worms and a couple chunks of fish isn't even a quarter of what she could eat. She'd eat triple that and want more the next day. It's hard to keep her fed.

Your NW are much lighter in color than the ones in our area. They are equally beautiful though. :)

Well, he didn't eat yesterday but did eat 1 large earthworm this evening.
I had to shield him from the other monster Northwesterns that felt they were being shorted in the food dept.
So then I fed all of them. Awesome snakes.:D

This little one is learning the ropes as she came out to me for some food this morning.
Earthworms and slug pieces.
Then I had to feed the other Northwestern pigs.

Um... Yeah. Sorry should have made that clearer..

What are you checking off? What do you mean "states left".

Sorry

Mommy2many

He means that he has a certain list of states in which he has yet to "introduce" the radix population to. He is trying for all 50, I believe and then will work on any US territories remaining. :)

Then after that, he'll likely have his radix army take over the remaining places in the world ;)

I went out and collected a few slugs this morning for the Northwesterns.
The adults had whole ones and the baby had pieces.
Later this afternoon I offered the baby a piece of night crawler and she took it.
As you can see she's got a full belly and won't be hungry for another couple of hours. :D

You have a pretty one there! All but one of mine are eating now. Well they were. They are fasting for their trip to Joe's house.
