I found this really really neat "Instrucables" fake rock cave/basking spot for his bearded dragon. Figured that some people on here would like to try. :D I'm going to try it as soon as I get home.

Make a fake rock cave/basking spot for a reptile cage. (http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-a-fake-rock-cavebasking-spot-for-a-reptile-c/?ALLSTEPS)

I am planning to use this basic idea n make a 'rock wall' background with a cave :)

Having had several HO trains layouts, this reminds me of the mountains making process, which is practically identical.

A word of caveat, tho....trains and tiny plastic people glued to the "mountain" made with styrofoam DO NOT defecate on it.
In other words, keep in mind that if your snake dirties the side of the styrofoam basking spot, you'll have a hard time to clean it properly....
Make it easily reachable, then, and if possible, easy to get out of the viv.

I have made it!! lol I couldn't find any stryofoam except if i would have bought stryofoam pots, so I found a cheaper option, a couple rough cardboard pots, and I got a stone-textured spray paint n a clear coat (clear coat is durable n safe for use on childrens things) so i figured that would work. as well as expanding foam :)
Now I've got a neat looking rock hide with 'cracks' and a shelf inside :) looks awesome n my snake loves it! lol she's been in n out n all over it :)
The clear coat I got makes it really easy to clean, but still allows for rough surface so that she can grip it better :) I of course put it to the test before putting it in her tank, scrubbed it, put it right under a heat lamp etc. SAFE n loved :)

That looks much easier than the other instructables I've seen!

I do think that grout would have been easier then the textured spray paint though... it was kinda annoying to use. I have found me some stryofoam now, so I will be doing that sometime soon :) will try grout this time though.
