Well as you all know I have 7 baby eastrn garters. I also had told you all that my mom was getting 2 of them. Well she picked 1 out today and so I will be starting a thread just on Diamond(she named he/she today). So in the next coupls days I will be getting some pictures up and also of the tail so that I can get the baby sexed please. So Diamond will still be here at my house for a while yet but I will be haVing that one and he/she will be having another added tomorrow. they will both be in a seperate tank so that that they can get adjusted before the day. Even after they leave my house I will be keeping you alll updated as much as I am possible. Diamond already really likes mom and Diamond curls up in her hand and just relaxes and sometimes just looks around. It awesome that they like each other so much already. Well I wanted to let you all know and I will have some pics up as soon as I can and maybe I will be able to get mom in the pic as well. Who knows.

Thank you . She is very excited to be having 2 little ones but who knows... when they get to her house they will be bigger. She comes over a lot so they will not only be held by me but by her as well while she is here.

This ones harder. Looks like it could be female, but also, to my not-so-great- baby sexing skills, a male recently ate a good bit.. but that ones probably female too.

6 of the 7 babies ate last night. Only 1 didnt cause it had a shedding problem but that is taken care of now thankfully. there all looking like they naormally do . Im hoping she also has a male and a female so that later they can mate. theres names are Diamond and Silky. mom named them.

#2, nice taper from the cloaca down the tail.
The second and third photo shows that taper.

With babies I normally see the males with a lightly tapered tail and they're easily mistaken for females, but since they are babies, they don't have large noticeable hemipenes. But, if #2 is a female, all of my babies are females... :D :p

ya i noticed that...lol I was hopeing to get a male out of the bunch to breed with them. Now what shall I do? I dont know if my mom wanted to breed but I know I wanted to when they are older and I wouldnt like them to grow up together...grrrr

Randi, you'd be inbreeding if you bred them together. That can cause a lot of problems with their healthy and cause a lot of deformities.

It was said on other of these threads that it would be ok for a bit but not on and on. but i guess since I have 3 females that it shouldnt cause any problems. Maybe I was reading the posts wrong in the other threads but iI swear it said it was ok. But if it is not then I wont but I still want a male to breed with them......Anyone want to send me a male Eastern that looks differently then them that they can be together now and have no problems.

It's done but if it doesn't have to be done then it shouldn't be.
Be patience and wait for a different male.

Ok I will be patient. I need to be I dont have one around...lol I have been looking at all the snakes in the forums and trying to sex them oon my own for practice and Ive been going pretty good so if I find a male I should be able to know. I wont inbreed cause you all said it was bad. Thank you again for the help and I will keep you all updated and the days go on and Im keeping the other 2 right now until spring. ill have to look at them and see if I can tell there sees. hopefully I can . they are still so so tiny. I think thee runts of the litter. Thank you all again

Don't inbreed. I've read about how much that affects them, and it's never good.

im not going to now. Im wanting another easter of course but one that has different colorings and stuff then the 3 fems I have. And then maybe I can get some other cools ones. But there not old enough yet I know but I want one soon so that they can grow up together. If I cant do it that way then I cant but I can hope though.
