Hi I'm new to the whole garter snake thing, but its been catch and release whenever I see them around. After my recent trip to yellowstone and catching some terrestrial garters (not sure the species) I really wanted one. I got my self a baby Thamnophis S. Similis I believe, which is a Florida blue garter if i am correct. I hope to have a fun time at the forum and discuss the excitements and joy of keeping these wonderful little critters :D

Nice to have you on the forum.
Garters are awesome.
Here's a link to the care sheet:
Garter Snake Care Sheet - Caresheets (http://www.thamnophis.com/caresheets/index.php?title=Garter_Snake_Care_Sheet)
Feel free to ask any questions not answer there.
Are you living in the States now as I see your flag is India?
Just wondering.

Welcome to the forum. I'm new here too, only had our garter for less than a week. The guys on the forum here are font of knowledge and really helpful, there's some good tips in the thread I started (questions about our first garter snake (http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/husbandry/9210-questions-about-our-first-garter-snake.html)) in the husbandry section, you may have some of the same questions and the answers in there are nice and fresh. :)

Oh yeah the best place to find them is Lomar valley. I literally stepped off the car and three or four sped into the brush. (Watch out for the prarie Rattlers though )
