Here's a simple question-what's the oldest female garter you've had deliver a healthy litter? Just curious....

A concinnus, at 14 years old. 54 live ones but only 40 made it. She lived quite a few more years but didn't breed again. 150 yearlings of hers were released during the time I had her.
I've always read that average life was 10-14 years but I have to say that is definitely not the limit. I've had two that lived much longer. 18 and 21 years. Hardly anyone believes me but I can hardly believe it myself so there ya go.

Well, the last 5 or 6 years was pretty rough. She had all but lost all her teeth and was very arthritic. Just like my dear old late great-grandmother.:p (104 when she passed in 1977)

That is indeed an amazing longevity for a garter!
