I go looking for snakes a lot, I haven't gone for a while,
Anyway, I went out looking to see what I could find.
I only saw one.
That snake that caught me off guard.
I managed to get it...
Just barely, because it went straight for the thorn bushes...
I had thorns in my hand, at the time..
Anyway, I brought it home..
And got pictures with my phone...
My cam is broken... :(
Here are the pictures.

If you're in washington, there are only a couple species. Most common is an ordinoides, northwestern garter snake. Where in washington are you?

Looks NW, The other one you had looked to be a puget. We have both those breeds. What part of WA you in?

I live in Kitsap county. You'll love the NW. They are super sweet. They can be picky eaters at first though. Do you know if you have a boy or a girl?

How about the under side and a side view? I'm not the best at telling the sex, but a lot of others are.

I'm not officially selling quite yet, but 4 of them are about ready to be ready. If that makes any sense.

That is hard to see. I would say female, but I could be wrong.

Female northwestern. Male northwesterns are always much thinner, smaller, and just don't have that heavy body.
You are lucky, I have been in Moses Lake for 4 years and have never found a single Garter :(
There's plenty of fitchi in that area. (Valley garters live east of the cascades) They're very pretty but rather feisty and fussy in captivity. I don't think there's any northwesterns though. They are strictly a west side snake. I've seen photos of fitchi before from the Moses lake area. You really have to find a wetland though, with plenty of amphibians, and go very early in the day to find them basking to warm up in the sun. They spend a lot of time in the water hunting frogs. Once they warm up and the day progresses, they tend to disappear on warm days.
T. sirtalis fitchi (Valley Garter Snake). They are most definitely in the Moses Lake area.
Southwestern Center for Herpetological Research - Snakes of the American Southwest - Thamnophis sirtalis fitchi (http://www.southwesternherp.com/snakes/fitchi.html)
Apparently they are in Washoe county, NV (Where Reno is) too and I've spent a lot of time herping there. Never found any snake that didn't have a rattle.

Based on the size of the snake I think female. NW males are super tiny!
