I'm curious as to which of you have YouTube channels.. several people here i know do, but I never would have known until i recognized the snakes. I mean, i had no idea Steve had one, but as i was browsing YouTube his Radix Ranch was inevitable... i was like "it's Steve!" I recognized Stefan's style and his snakes... I was like, why does a big fat gravid hypo water snake seem familiar??.. hey.. it's Shannon.. etc etc.

So I'm curious of how many people here have YouTubes of there snakes, but don't advertise it in there signature like some. If you're like me, you like videos as much as photos (sometimes), so it's cool to know.

Mine is in my signature.. video quality sucks right now, but i'm getting an HD camera soon.

would any one like to take the time to explain to this fossil about u tube i know of course that people put up video's of all kinds, for other peoples's enjoyment i was under the impression you just logged on and watched, but this talk of u tube channel and subscription has me confused [an increasingly normal state for me ]

You can subscribe to other peoples channels, that they post videos to when they're logged on. It'll send you an email when there is a new video posted on that persons channel.

Thanks Chantel that has lifted the fog somewhat :D:D

Click "My Channel" under mine and Richards signature and it will bring you to our "channels". That's all of our uploaded videos.

My "subscriptions" our channels I like and if I subscribe, YouTube sends me an email saying "whatevertheirnameis has uploaded a new video"... and other stuff.

Anyone can subscribe to me, and the same thing goes.

Friends... not a huge thing on YouTube but that's there too.

RedSidedSPR
08-30-2011, 07:21 AM
And yes. I will subscribe anyone here too, when I'm at a computer.

That is, I'd like to. I can't access Waynes channel. It brings me to MY (yes me.. my) videos.

If you want it to. I don't have mine set that way. I simply log into youtube (actually, I'm always logged in, i just open it) and it shows any new videos that have been posted on my subscriptions.

PINJOHN, you just create a user account and log in. You can then upload your own videos. If people like your videos they can "subscribe" to your channel and one way or another they will know when you upload a new video, so they can watch it.

I can. I think he fixed the link. I have no problem viewing his channel. Besides, you could just search youtube for his channel name, go there, hit "subscribe"

Oh, i see... he did fix it. I subscribed.
I didn't even know his name, so that wouldn't have worked.

Yes. There are a few tricks: Optimizing your video uploads - YouTube Help (http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=3Den&answer=132460)

Yes, but for people who don't know or don't care, it doesn't matter. Of course, when you have a lot of subscriptions it gets really annoying and spam like in the inbox.

Actually, this is more important that the page I showed you: Supported YouTube file formats - YouTube Help (http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=55744)

If you don't know a lot about digital video this stuff probably won't make a lot of sense though.

Basically, the closer to the specs they convert to, the better. If a major change is needed, it's going to be "lossy" and take longer to process. If no, or little change is needed, then no loss of quality will occur and processing will be quick.

ConcinusMan
08-30-2011, 04:56 PM

No. I mean like this. Here you can see the URL. As long as I'm logged in, it shows my subscriptions on the home page. You can see that a new one I haven't watched yet, has been added to "RayWilliamJohnson". Most other subscriptions are there too, but I can choose which ones appear on my home page.

Yeah, mine just shows a bunch of... I guess overly commercial videos, like for selling crap that doesn't work. I don't care too much though, since I just use my bookmark bar for that.

RedSidedSPR
08-30-2011, 07:12 PM

Chantel, I just clicked the big YOUTUBE logo which brought me home, and it IS there for me.

kibakiba
08-30-2011, 07:14 PM
I have, I've been on youtube for like 5 years :p I don't care too much, because when I'm not watching a series, I just click on the subscriptions link and look.

ConcinusMan
08-31-2011, 12:01 AM
Huh. That doesnt work on mine.

Sure it does. Like I said, it's customizable. You have to set it up that way. And Chantel, the "random" videos you're talking about are usually "featured videos" or some other catagory. You can remove that catgory from the home page, and add your subscriptions instead. You have total control over what appears on the home page when you're logged in.

kibakiba
08-31-2011, 06:26 AM
I guess it would be useful if I always typed "youtube.com" in the bar... I just use my bookmarks to load a video from a series I like then click subscriptions. Somehow, I just like it that way a lot better :p

We have decided to start our own youtube channel as well (Thanks John ;) ) and we're pretty much clueless on what to post on there! There's a few short clips on there as we're still trying to figure things out (including the filming with a DSLR and 'editing' with Windows Movie Maker).

Would like to know though, what would you guys like to see from us @ crazyreptiles? Litters/Breeders/Set-up/Feeding?
Would you guys like it when we comment on this (with a heavy dutch accent of course ;) we all like that....) or simply with a bit of music?

Please have a look and let us know how/what/why!

I love seeing how aquatic garter snakes are. Watching that snake on the bottom of the pond it seem as though it's dry land to the snake.
Awesome footage.
