Sooooooo I have a connection in canada and he needed a favor. He bought a group of atratus (Santa Cruz Garters) from Tim Spuckler, and Tim needed to ship them this week. Only problem is the fellow from Canada could not make it down this week, to pick up the snakes in NY and take them across the border (legally, with paperwork) so he asked if I could "snakesit" for a week or so! (This would not be the first time) So I came home from work on friday to FREAKING 28 ATRATUS!!! Ha! I was expecting like, 15 or so, lol! He allowed me to select a pair for the favor and I must say... I am so delighted with them! These are nice and big too, not little babies, but a good 8 inches long and fat! about 9 of them ate within a half hour of coming out of the box, the rest were still spazzing out. Anyway, I just thought I'd share this cool story as I am probably never going to see this many atratus together again! Not to mention, I was able to score a pair of Tim's atratus, which I really wanted to get this year, but I simply couldn't! They are so pretty, with their green bodies, orange bellies and stripes!

Coming from me, a professional troll, no, that's not the only form of trolling. Most trolling is more lighthearted than that and has a humorous undertone. A person saying things like that is flaming, which anyone can do! Trolling is meant to get a rise out of people, and to confuse them or to get them a little riled up. Being trolled makes you feel like this: :confused::p whereas being flamed makes you feel like this: :mad::mad:

Trolling is a art.

Nothing. LOL going off topic doesn't make you a troll unless you intentionally do it to derail the thread.

With me it's that this is the first forum that I have ever been on!!! When I have a CONVERSATION with someone the topic sometimes changes!!! Apparently this is frowned upon here! I just need to get used to it I guess! I definately do not do it on purpose!!!;)

Didymus20X6

Trolling, technically speaking, is attempting to offend readers for the purpose of fueling needless argument. It could be "for the lulz" as they say, that is, that the person in question doesn't really hold to the position, or it could be that the person seriously holds the opinion and is expressing it in the harshest possible manner.

I agree, when you are having a conversation, it shifts, just like in real life. No harm in that really, people who get all up in arms about it really tick me off.

It's one thing for a thread's subject matter to shift - like a conversation - but it's a completely different matter to try to hijack or disrupt a topic. The latter would be a clear matter of trolling.

If a thread becomes too far off topic, I see nothing wrong with someone - either the thread's originator or a mod/admin - trying to redirect the conversation back to the topic at hand. But I also don't see anything particularly wrong with side-topics being addressed - much as the subject of "trolling" is discussed here.

On the old Homestar forum, where I used to be a moderator, we had a custom: if someone believed a thread to have deviated too far off topic, they could declare "Toastpaint." This was our codeword for, "Okay, it's time for us to get back to the main topic please." From that point forward, the particular side-topic would be dropped, and the conversation would turn back to the main topic. This allowed us to deviate off-topic for a time, but wouldn't permit us to be off-topic indefinitely.

Wow, what a pile! These are cool snakes, common in my neck of the woods. We found one yesterday and I have seen a good number of wild individuals this year. I have always been fond of the nice wide dorsal stripe on T. atratus. Thanks for sharing.

Ouch, that's a little too far from me in Ontario. Any chance of shipping? Or am I just pushing it now.

Spankenstyne

I would imagine the ones coming in are mosty likely coming into Ontario. I would keep my eyes on Port Credit Pet Center. I would imagine they will end up with at least some of the ones being brought in (depending on who is bringing them in). At any rate that many being brought in means in the next couple of years we'll likely finally start seeing some available up here.

kimbo if I don't sell mine at the show we can talk after.
