well I just woke up and saw that my orange eastern had 2 babies but both are dead :( does this mean the chances of her having a full slug litter is high? of about 100 babies born here in the last week I only saw 1 or 2 slugs / still births and now this one who I was the most excited so far her first 2 are dead. one looked like a still birth and in good shape while the other looked like it got stepped on. She has plenty of room so I know it wasn't her weight going over the baby that caused it. I'm just wondering if this is semi common or not and wether or not I can still expect to have at least a few healthy babies to raise as I wanted to keep this entire litter.

Only time will tell.
I haven't seen any kind of pattern taking shape with stillborns being first, middle or last and how that relates to the rest of snakes delivered.
That's just been my experience.;)

thank god lol, so I had been somewhat lucky thus far then. I was all freaking out thinking all the babies might be dead that will come next. still sad though :( one of the babies that was still born looked very bright orange. Would of been interested to see him / her grow

Yes and no.

Each birth is different.
My last group born we're all alive and well. The group before had a deformed baby.
Then I had a mother deliver all slugs except of one alive and well baby.
You just never know.

yeah it sucks seeing such innocent lil guys / gals laying there and not have been given the chance to live and make wonderful pets for people or to have been able to explore nature with their friends

how is mama doing? has she given birth to anything else yet? It's odd, how nothing else is coming out.... keep her as stress free as possible and I hope you get some lil ones!

she seems to be doing fine, active as usual she has not given birth to anything else yet. Nothing in her tank has changed so she shouldn't be stressed out. I'm really anxious to have her give birth and make sure the lil ones are ok.

When Pheobe had her babies I thought I had 10 still borns. Both of them I opened there sacks by there heads. THe 1st one was about 10 minutes after she had it and I saw no movement but I decided to try anyway. That one was fine after I did that other then a slow start and moving slow but after about 10 minutes after that it was fine. then when Pheobe was done with her babies I say that I had 9 still borns left and it had been about a half an hour afterwards and I figured I would try the same as I did for the first one just to make sure. Cause you really never know what might happen. I wasnt worried about how long it was I just wanted to try.well all were unsuccessfull other then 1. I was able to save 1 more out of the bunch. Again a slow start but now is doing fine with out anything wrong. There all 13 days old and are doing great. So just remember dont give up cause you never know. I was sooo happy to know that if I had never done that then they wouldnt be here. There good babies and are very healthy. So dont give up. Hope everything works out good for you.

yeah so far she hasn't given birth to any more and it's been about 12 hours. I took a closer look at the 2 babies and their eyes weren't developed from the looks of it :(
I've been waiting all day and I know on another post that it can be several hours between babies, well it's been several hours and I'm getting excited to see when the others arrive as I want to be there right away to give them their own tank with water :)

I hope she has some healthy little babies soon. It is sad about the two. I wish they could all make it.

I find it odd that your snake has not had the rest yet. I hate to say it bt it's probably not a good sign.... Many times when this happens the litter is no good... I hope thats not the case but a snake should honestly begin laying and not stop until it is done with. Just like egg layers, normally they start having them and they dot stop until the process is finished. A lot of times I have found that when females do not lay properly and it's over the course of hours or days, you end up with bad eggs or babies. It's a part of our hobby... So don't be too upset if it does happen.

yeah it's been 2.5 days or so since she's given birth to the 2 deformed ones with no eyes but I'm stubborn and want to believe that if I'm patient she will give birth to a healthy litter of babies for me to feed and raise as my own :)

I agree, it shouldn't take that long. Mom might be in danger too. If everything doesn't come out, live or not, it wouldn't be good.
