Looks like a wandering to me... not a radix! Looks just like the Schuett albino easterns!
I want it :(

don't know... wondering how much people are willing to pay for it.... kinda sad how sometimes the one with the most money wins even if it's not their passion! I can not buy this snake, I have more important things going on!

Spoke to the guy(Mathew) on the phone.
Gave him a scale count to do and suggested he co some comparison with photos.
For me those dark blotches along the dorsal say this isn't a radix.
Guy says he gotten offers for $500 and $1000.

For an albino radix it is.
In my opinion.

Make this an albino and that's what he has.

He told me he is open to trades for retics and chondros and some other species I own. I thought abot offering up my female kofiau island GTP (rare locality valued at $1000, maybe more) and my purple albino retic. Then I decided... NO WAY!!! It's one little garter snake and I don't even like the morphs that much any more! Good luck to him, anyone who spends that kinda money on it is going to be sadly mistaken when they realize people are not going to pay $1k each for the latest garter snake morph. The morph crazed seem to want to buy up any new morph they can, but this is how our garter hobby often loses morphs and never sees them again. The guy with the most money buys it and then nothing ever comes of it. Funny how you don't hear anything more about that pied eastern...!

Agreed, there was not even a need for scale counts when that snake is really obviously NOT a radix. I took one look at it and said, well I'll be darned, a vagrans!

I don't know much about Wandering morphs. Might that explain the money being offered?
I've never seen or even heard of a albino wandering before.
Money still seems high though to me.

Scott had them before.they are not the most sought after garter.i would say 500 is a fair price.the babies won't sell very well.nice pet though.

I think even $500 is a little high. I could be wrong, but like Tom said, I don't believe they will be easy to sell, and I think if this animal proves out, the baby albinos will sell for $100 or less, so a $500 investment, and all the time proving it, seems a little high in my opinion.

let the person who offered $1000 figure that one out! ;)

I agree with Jason, even $500 is steep for a snake that isn't even an adult yet. And the return on it won't be very high, sure there aren't many albino wandering garters available these days, but that doesn't exactly mean there's much demand for them either. And it would be at least 3 years before you would be producing albino wandering garters for yourself. Nice looking little snake though.

This kid near me found an albino northwestern just last summer. It wasn't adult yet and not in the greatest of shape. He wouldn't sell it to me for $250. He wanted $600 and claims he got it. Probably from somebody who didn't know any better. Someone who didn't realize it's not worth all that.
I know that there have very few ever found and he may have had the only one living in captivity but still... Jeez. It isn't worth that much.
Funny how you don't hear anything more about that pied eastern...!
Of course by now you do realize it was bred and then died after giving birth and Jeff got some of the babies. Not much else left to hear since it's dead.
I've never seen or even heard of a albino wandering before.
Money still seems high though to me.
I was going to say... Scotts website. I don't think it's there anymore though. And I've seen pics of them before.

From what I remember Scott telling me, he never owned that albino wandering. A lady found the snake and contacted him for info, but refused to give the snake up or sell it. She was not interested in selling it or breeding it and merely wanted to keep it as a pet for herself. I know he tried for a long time to get the snake, or to even loan her a mate for the snake, but to no avail... she just wanted to have it as a pet. I am pulling this from a phone conversation I had with Scott a year or two ago... I can't remember all the details, but it went something like that.

As I stated in the w/c morphs thread, I ended up with the snake Matt had. Beautiful little female that ate a f/t pinky first try. I'm proud to have her and will definitely be keeping her genetics alive in the future.

Good! hopefully we shall some day see these as a common snake in our hobby. Heck then we can mix them with melanistics and make yet ANOTHER dirty snow. I bet those turn out just like the Schuett snow easterns did!!! Really really ugly, but so ugly they are cute. Good luck with her
