So I was going to buy guppies and they say their water should be around 75-80F I think? I have a half gallon bowl thing in with my garter... Can I put a mini aquarium heater in this for the fishies?

There is A LOT of 'should be' in this world but you can get away with just room temperature, when the snake finds that there is fish in the bowl it'll keep going back until they are gone

half gallon?! thats a pretty big water bowl, thats like almost 2 liters

I wouldn't worry with it. I doubt that water temp is going to be terribly much lower than ambient temp. Besides, it's not like you're going to be raising them in that bowl.

Guppies are kinda hardy. I'd get a small tank, with this (http://www.petco.com/product/14931/Tetra-Whisper-Air-Pumps.aspx)

It's a little filter that sits on my desk. A tube from it to the air stone feeds the air to the water, and works pretty well.

A filter. All fish, except a few, need filters. It's only like $12.00

By the time I turned to get the aerator the guppies would be gone.
The snakes would be looking at like "What?":D

If yours is a fish-lover, you won't have to worry about preserving the guppies more than a few minutes. Actually, we used to just put them in a little room-temp bowl in his cage. One time we had a guppy that ended up living in that bowl for months. They're surprisingly hard to kill.

its funny watching the snake swim in the water dish with its mouth wide open trying to catch a fish :)

I know i love it.

They are pretty hardy, not a lot of care needed. Temprature doesn't need to be perfect.

I've kept 3 guppies in a small Kritter Keeper of months now. They are from when I had my baby snake. The snake didn't make it but the guppies did!!!

With a filter right? I've had 30 in a fish bowl, but they only live for me with a filter.

No I just change the water often! Like I do with my Betta.;) I use water that has been sitting for a while plus I usually add a few drops of water conditioner too.

If rather buy a stupid $12.00 filter than go through that.

We got ours to grab them by putting some fishing line through their gills and dangling it in front of their face. Once they bite and have a good hold just pull the fishing line out. Works great!

Honestly, I doubt its worth the money to spend 12 dollars on THREE guppies. It's a waste of money, unless you're breeding them.

I agree for the amount I have... I wouldn't honestly care if they died or not >.>
