I just bought a 20 Gallon Long aquarium and will have it tonight... I won't have a screen cover until I get to the pet store (On Monday). Any ideas on what I could cover it with? I would really like him to get into that ASAP!

Don't even try to put him in it until you get that top, and don't forget the aftermarket screens need the clips that hold them on. Never fail to clip it down or your snake will escape. Don't try using weights to hold it down. Snakes often will push just enough to get under it and can get injured or pinned.

What do you mean by the clips? I have looked for them before and have had no luck... Anything at Petsmart? Could you possibly give me a link?

PETCO Reptile Screen Cover Security Clips at PETCO (http://www.petco.com/product/4353/PETCO-Reptile-Screen-Cover-Security-Clips.aspx)

Get two sets. The small parts shown in this set are useless. I don't even know what they are for. There's no instructions. You need 4 of the big ones and there are two in each package. You need one on each end, one on each side. You have to bend them to the correct angle to get them to clip on tightly.

What?!!

This is the one i see there (http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752182&keepsr=0&clickid=prod_cs). It comes in several sizes including 20gal. From 5gal all the way to 55gal. The price ranges from 8.99 to 24.99. Not sure if it comes with clips, but those are definitely needed. That's why i get sliders.

EDIT: and of course, Richard posted the clips.

None of them come with clips. Clips are usually sold separately and are located with the screen tops in the stores. I prefer the sliding top tanks myself but if you want to use an old aquarium, you have to buy a screen top and clip it on. That's the only way I could make use of my 55 gallon long tank but they don't sell the tops that big in the store, I had to order it online. Don't worry so much about gallons as dimensions. measure your top to make sure you get the right size. Pets stores generally have the standard 10 gallon, and 20 gallon long size. Occasionally, they have the tiny ones for 5.5 gallon tanks.

I know, and I provided a link to show you what they are. The small parts are supposedly not clips. It does say there's only two clips in a package, but there's 4 parts. Not sure what those are for. I just bend the big ones shut a little so their tight, and clip them on. Had to figure out how to do that on my own. There was no dang instructions!

The long piece fits underneath the plastic frame, while the clip fits over the edge of the screen frame. It might take a bit of moving clips around to find the best spot as you are basically wedging them against silicone caulk underneath the plastic rim.

If you were wondering at all ConcinnusMan :)

Not really. I don't even use the small piece. Don't need it.

You really don't. Ive never used the little things. Just the actuall clips.

I used to have a lid like that, but never knew about clips. I just bent the lid, so I fit REALLY tight. But do the clips.

Awesome. Make sure it still fits tight, both the lid and the clips.
