There is an ad for Northern garters on kingsnake.com. Is there another name for these snakes? I am confused!:confused:

They are not listed on the care sheets. That's why I was wondering if they are called something else.:confused:

Wouldn't pay anything for them. No valid common name and no scientific name. Who knows what the hell it really is. They might as well have labeled them "snakes".

I've got a call into the owner to see if I can get more info. on the snake.
I'm guessing it's just a bulk snake he purchased from some idiot that raids wildlife.:mad:

$25 bucks. For someone who wants a garter, that's not bad. To me, it looks like a mix between plains and northwestern. We'd figure that part out with some pics.
I wouldn't buy it though.
Just saying, it IS a garter snake, so...

I agree.
I was saying that since its a garter, that if someone wants a garter, than buy it, but NOW i realize that there is more than that.

No. Look like garters, probably a pretty close relative, but they're not garters.

The Northern garters he has advertissed are red sideds, from where he gets them at they have minimal red markings.

Now that you mention it... it does look like a red sided. But that stripe is just radixy. :D

many people think a gartersnake is just a garter snake...anybody remember the 80's..."red rat snake", "boa constrictor", "carpet python","box turtle"...GENERIC TERMS FOR GENERIC PEOPLE

yeah... garter up north is "northern garter". Maybe somone sold it to him, told him they were norhterns, and he went with that. Who knows.
