Yesterday I was out at the cooling pond on NASWI just poking around with my camera. I was flashed by what might have been a quite large Puget.

As I re-picture it in my mind, all I was able to see was a black snakes with one yellow strip on the dorsal and very large maybe 1” to 1.25” thick. It was away before I could even think what to do next. Getting old, I guess.

At one time, the Navy stocked this pond but not for a long time now. Also, I see these huge water snails, the size of a quarter. Have you tried snails in your snake’s diet?

Awesome Pugets. Very nice! My sirtalis' show no interest in slugs or snails, but I do peel the shells off of them and offer them to my northwesterns. They love 'em.

Cotton is about to shed. It's been a while since she shed last as she is not growing much. She is a bit of a loner, but she is amazing to watch. She's not big on being held, but I'll try and do a photo shoot after she sheds. She is so dark and shiny after her sheds.

So even though she is about to shed she still downed 2 pinkies today. My good little girl. :)

Yeah...I was so surprised when Cee Cee ate all of those pinkies right before she shed...she's a little piggers though. Selena won't have anything to do with food before she sheds.

Maria won't eat while in shed, but she's the only one in our group that way. Everyone else chows down with gusto!

I misted her a little while ago because it's been pretty dry in the apartment lately. She started shedding about 10min later. I got some good during and after shots. Here they are.

I'm very excited to be getting a male Puget soon from Michael. As soon as he is breeding age we are going to try and get some pretty Puget babies from these ladies.

We think that Cotton is getting up there in age. She has been less active and not as feisty. She is eating less at a time also. I think she has lost a little weight too. I hope she is just in a funk and will perk up soon.

I hope so too Kat...You never know with these garters...Cee Cee goes through weird phases like that. I started to wonder if maybe she was older than I thought not too long ago...because she was less active and not eating as much, and now she is very active and quite the pig...so you never know. I hope Cotton snaps out of it.
