Alright, I know I haven't been here for quite some time. St. George is sadly gone, and I had only had half a mind to get a new one, as much as I love them.
Then a friend called me up asking if I could take in a garter her cats attacked. He's got a couple of wounds, but I don't think they are much more than just past the scales. So far I've given him a bath in Metafix and warm water and pretty much just let him soak. I'm planning to pick up some neosporin tomorrow morning on my way home from work, but beyond that and waiting to see how he does I can't really think of much else... Anyone else have any suggestions for this guy?
Also, he's absolutely beautiful! My guess is a patternless Thamnophis elegans elegans with a hint of green to him, especially his underside.

Sorry to hear you lost St. George.
This new snake sounds beautiful.
Infection is the biggest thing to watch for especially since it's a cat bite.
Looking forward to seeing a photo in the near future.
Keep us posted on your new friends progress.

St. George didn't actually die. He got out of his tank when I was out of town, and my dad ran across him and let him outside. It was still early enough in the year that I'm pretty sure he would have found a safe place for winter, so that's good at least. I'm almost finished with a new, snakeproof lid, but for now I have a canvas over the top of the tank with bottles all along the edge to weigh it down to keep this guy from escaping.
I will definitely post photos as soon as I have a chance to take them, but I'm trying to give the poor guy a bit of a break first. Really hoping that he pulls through alright. So far he seems to just want to curl up in a corner and rest, so we'll have to see how things go.
And I'm gunna need name ideas... The end of this one's tail is really long and thin, but I can't remember if that means male or female. Again, I'll post up photos as soon as I can!

This is to show how big she[?] is. The Neosporin is 1 oz worth. She's still pretty strong too, so I have high hopes for her recovery! The worm I put in her tank either is hiding really good or turned into dinner, I'll look around for it more later.

This is the worst of her injuries. Only it and two others actually showed pink, the rest seemed to be black of injured scales. This was the only one that seems to have a "dip" to it.

And last but not least, an image to try and help sex the beast!
I really wish her colors had come out better in the photos, but my camera is made of suck. Her body is a bronzish green sort of color, moving down to a pale blue just before the yellow underside. Absolutely lovely!

Well, that's my guess too. She's a big girl though! I haven't actually measured her in inches and feet yet, but I'm guessing 3 feet at the very least.

Oh! I'm hoping the care for them and garters is pretty darned similar. Guess I'm gunna have to look more info up on her now! Definitely her though, the photo's a dead ringer.
