Am i right in thinking that DMF bait company carries more worms than just Nightcrawlers and Panfish/Trout worms? (red wrigglers)
I was sure they used to carry earthworms, and i just heard (multiple places including this forum) that they carried (at one point) baby nightcrawlers...
Anyone know? If they don't, do you know of any reputable bait co., that carries smaller-than-nightcrawler worms?
Thanks

Earthworms are practically the same as night crawlers. I've seen earthworms that are bigger than some of my largest night crawlers.

I know you can get "Baby Crawlers" at my local Wal-Mart stores. They are all in the same fridge with the adult nightcrawlers, the trout worms, ect. I don't think they are worth the money though. I just buy the big night crawlers and cut them to the size piece I need. I use fewer and save money. ;)

Worms can also live with a lot of their body cut off. I had worms, I affectionately called them stubbies, that lived for months without their tail. If you cut them below the clitellum, they'll likely live. I had one stubby last about 3 months, before I ran out of worms and had to feed him to my snakes.

Thanks i've been cutting them up, but they don't like them very much. They love the little ones though.
I know for a fact that they once carried earthworms. I saw them.

Is it DMF?

They are DMF baby nightcrawlers. They come 25 to a container for a little over $3.00 at Walmart. I just bought them the other day for my Dekayi snake, Connor Snake.

Can't answer that one. I found them only after Wayne (Infernalis) mentioned it the other day. Maybe you can request that they order some, since they buy from the company already.

These are the same night crawlers I recently bought from Walmart. Snakes devoured them in no time and they came in actual dirt. They had two different brands though. My only complaint is that for night crawlers, they were tiny. I find it a better value to pay $1.99 at a different store for 13 really big ones instead. That ends up being more food than 20 of those little puny ones from DMF.

yeah, but they're nice for people who want little worms for baby snakes

That's who I bought from at first. Then I saw the mark up he charged to simply place the order in my name. The worms never touch his hands. Now I have my own business account with DMF so I can buy direct.;)

So your saying it's not good to get them there?

I'm saying you have to do the math to figure if it's worth it for you or if it's better to continue buying small containers from Walmart or from some other seller.
DMF Bait doesn't sell to the public. They are a wholesale. You must have a business account with them to buy directly from them.
I obtained a State business license so I could cut out the middleman and save me money.
I go through 1000-1500 night crawlers a month.

Well, I probably go through a loooot less :D
With worms I'm not so much the price... I just want to find smaller ones.
Right now I get DMF nightcrawlers from Walmart. I just chop them for the babies.
But I've heard of DMF (or something) carrying baby nightcrawlers, and I've personally had my hands on a DMF (at Walmart) EARTHWORMS.... They don't have those on their website though (DMF)

DMF and no one else that I know of carries/sells Earthworms(small pale worms).

The worms labeled "Baby Night Crawlers" are just that.

I know, I want baby nightcrawlers... Didn't expect anything else.
All I know is, I was in Walmart, and there was, amidst the others, some DMF bait EARTHWORMS. and when I opened, I don't know if they actually were earthworms, but they were small. Can't find those anymore.

My mistake. I thought you meant that Walmart sold Earthworms.
DMF Bait doesn't sell earthworms.
I have trouble keeping them over 48 hours.
They seem to be rather fragile and require something I'm not providing.
Of course, my babies won't let me keep them very long.:D

Well, the freezer in Walmart, along with the DMF (since it wasn't them) there was earthworms, or so called. But they do carry baby nightcrawlers??? It's not on their website... where could I get them?

No, I as I said I got the DMF night crawlers at Walmart and there's 20 per container for around 3 bucks but they're so small I actually get more food for less money by buying 14 gigantic ones. I get the big ones at Fred Meyer (a northwest-local chain variety store owned by kroger) I forget what brand they are since the people they get them from recently changed to plain packaging.
yeah, but they're nice for people who want little worms for baby snakes
They're still too big for babies but that doesn't make any difference since I cut them up with scissors. By buying the larger ones I get more food for the money. Even newborns eat the largest night crawlers. I just cut them up into little pieces.

I've been chopping them, I just thought it would be cool to be able to give them whole worms. Thanks, I'll just stick to chopping 'em...

Your little ones may be able to consume one of the "smaller" large nightcrawlers from Walmart. My Dekayi has done that and I believe he has a much smaller head than your little ones.
RedSidedSPR
07-24-2011, 03:07 PM
Heck no! Your "big" Walmart worms must be a LOT smaller than mine! The ones I get are huge! The babies can't eat half, heck couldnt eat a third! I DICE them for the babies!

I must be being cheated out of the colossal worms that you are receiving!
