My first clutch of checkereds. These were born from parents who bred in their first spring. The female gave me 11 babies, no still borns or jellybeans!! Her sister is gravid as well, so she should go any time.

And the mother after she gave birth...

Very nice looking scrubs.
Make sure those babies get all that first shed off. My last group had some problems
and problems with their second shed.

I've been wondering, but keep forgetting to ask, what are "jellybeans"?

Unfertilized ova. Kinda resemble jellybeans, hence the name. :)

Had another female give birth today, looks like 14 babies so far, she may have more in her, I'm not sure she is done. There was 1 jelly bean so far. Looks like my little male did his job on this female as well. :D He bred 2 more females, both of which appear gravid, so we will see.

It's looking like my albino female is gravid... I really hope it was my pastel that got her and not the albino male! I really would like a mixed bunch as opposed to albinos. I did not try to breed these guys either, sometimes they just get bored :)

Were they all housed together, males and females?

Yes! My three adult checkereds currently are together. A pastel male, the albino male and the albino female. It's not like I didn't want them to breed... if I didn't, they would have been separate. I just didn't go out of my way... Did not brumate them, nothing special at all. It's hit or miss whether they will breed like that or not. My female is looking thick and she has been picky with food recently... for a snake that normally eats a thawed adult mouse and them wants more, that's just not her! If she is gravid, she is actually still in the early stages... I palpated her today and I've just got a funny feeling, because I know she's empty, and yet she's very thick and "full" inside. Checkereds are very prolific to say the least

I house my albino female checkered with 2 males(1 albino, 1 normal het.) I didn't brumate any of them and they bred this Spring. Babies came right in line with the rest of the births at the Ranch.

I noticed both of my males have been "cuddly" with her this past month. Every time I walk in the room I'd notice that one of them, or both of them, would be aligned the same way as her. But I never saw them actively trying to breed! They are sneaky :)

Oh, teething... good and bad
Grumpy baby because teething hurts
But now we can start biting things! (A fun new baby game)
Would like to see pictures of your 5 month old scrub!
