Nice to have you on the forum.
A very good place to start is with the care sheet. Here's a link:
Garter Snake Care Sheet - Caresheets (http://www.thamnophis.com/caresheets/index.php?title=Garter_Snake_Care_Sheet)
Ditch the crickets.
Guppies are a good first food or small earthworms.
What kind of setup do you have your snake in?
Having him for only a week isn't a long time for a snake, especially a young(baby) not to eat.
Snakes can take a couple to a few weeks to settle in.
Is this a captive born snake or a wild caught snake?
My best advice is to search and read threads of interest with regards to your situation.
Looks like a Northwestern garter snake(Thamnophis ordinoides)

^^^^What he said^^^^
NO CRICKETS. They can't digest them. Please read up on what they can and cannot eat. Some things are toxic and can kill your snake
Definitely a northwestern garters.
Good luck with him, hope he eats.

sometimes it takes a week or 2 to adjust to the new home. definitely read up on the care sheets, lots of good info there!

Being a Northwestern I think it would be better easier to get him/her started on worms or slugs. Buy the pinkies and store them for later.
See if Petco has an feeder guppies for sale.
Don't let them tell you to use Rosy's or Goldfish. Both are bad for garter snakes. No meal worms or grubs either.
You might consider container feeding also.

Really. They will tell you "oh, they're fine, he can handle it." THEY KNOW NOTHING
I went to Petco one time, and was there for 5 mintutes, because this guy would. Not. let me get my minnows (they're bad... this was before i knew) He was like "why not goldfish?" I said "because they're too big" (lots of other reasons, didn't want to get into that) He saud "oh he can handle it". IDIOTS. He refused to let ME, his customer, buy the freaking fish i wanted.
They feed corn snakes crickets, they are clueless. Don't listen to them

I went to PetSmart looking for feeder guppies. The clerk pointed to the minnows and told me that they were the same fish. Do they really think we're that stupid?

THey're idiots. They say the same thing to me. I never try to explain, because when you do they say "oh, it won't hurt you snake", "oh he can handle it" "oh it's not too big," Like they no all about my snake.
