I thought Kaboom needed her own thread so here's an updated photo of this beautiful little red phase female radix.
This color has come out in only 2 sheds since birth. Looking forward to seeing a year from now.
She looks so much like her mother(Boomerang).

Thank you to everyone for your comments.

I am very pleased with her and can't wait to see her as an adult. I think she will continue to color-up as she ages.
She will have a special place in our family the same way her mother does.

Kaboom wasn't allowing me many good photos and it was a cloudy day but here goes.
I can see both Boomerang(Mother) and Cherry-on-top(Father) in her.
Kaboom continues to color up and should be quite stunning when full grown.

Nice colour already. And she "continues to colour up"... This is going to be one very striking snake when she grows up.

Yes she is and I have an unrelated male that is simply stunning and still coloring up.
Hoping those two will someday produce some red offspring.

guidofatherof5

Normal for the red ones:D

Just kidding. It's just one of the great variations in the color palette of T.radix.

Made me almost think that she was a parietalis at first glance, I do love that red fade on the lateral stripes.

Makes me almost want one to match Marley.

Thanks for your comment. Kaboom is an awesome snake.
I also have some other news with regards to Kaboom and his mother Boomerang.

My good friend Mark delivered to me a few weeks ago a great grandson of Boomerang. He has a smokin' hot orange dorsal.
Yes, I will post a photo very soon.;):D

I wish I didn't have to report this but Kaboom is dead. Sunday he tried to escape from his new enclosure and was injured in the attempt.
For the first couple days he appeared to be OK but late last night I found him limp and unresponsive. This morning he was on his back but still alive.
I placed him in the bottom of the refrigerator and he passed.
I take full blame for his death. I failed to see an area that could have been a problem.
This ends a line of red T.radix. I do have one of Boomerang's grand kids. No red but an awesome orange dorsal.
R.I.P. Kaboom. Please forgive me.

Sorry to hear this Steve. Don't beat yourself up too much, everyone makes mistakes and you make fewer than most of us, it's only when we don't learn and make the same mistakes again that you should feel really guilty. Accidents happen, it's regrettable that this one involved Kaboom.

Oh Steve...I am so very sorry to hear this. I know how much you loved Kaboom and Boomerang. Isn't Sammy part of the red radix line? We can talk. I don't like leaving Seeley without a mate...but if you really want Sammy back for breeding...we can arrange something. Perhaps I could send him back to you and you could send me another mate for Seeley...or you could breed Sammy and then send him back to me. Contact me on skype.

As far as Kaboom's injury goes...I know you will feel bad no matter what I say...but as others have said...we are human and we all make mistakes. Yesterday, when dealing with the mite situation...Bella got into the top of a plastic tub and I shut it on her...if I had not seen her and latched the top shut, it would have killed her...I was very lucky. One of the eastern babies escaped from the plastic container and got into Julian's toy box full of heavy toys...one shift and he would have been smushed. Again I was lucky because he came out before anything could happen to him. We all have incidences in which our snakes come into danger...sometimes we luck out and sometimes we don't. Please try not to be so hard on yourself.

Rest in peace sweet Kaboom...you are with your mother now.

I feel the same way when my snakes died, even though I did whatever I could. I even feel like Snakey would still be alive if I had dealt with my depression better... But in reality, 6-8 years old is pretty old for a wild snake, especiallly around here.
So sorry for your loss. I'm always available if you need someone to talk to. If I'm not at the PC, you can always leave a message.

So sorry to hear about Kaboom's passing:( As everyone else has said, don't feel too bad, things happen, and at least he helped you find the problemed area in the enclosure.
