Scotts Garter snake, (Thamnophis Scotti), is a central american garter species. One of my females just produced a small litter of 6 babies, 2 males and 4 females. The babies are tiny replicas of the adults. These are one of my faves, they look like the patchnose snakes from out west. This is the first time they have been bred in the US to my knowledge.

I've noticed he drops the species name every now and then.

just a typo or a brainfart :)
Shortcut, would be my guess.

But I do find it annoying to see the genus name and the subspecies, but not the species.

Congrats!
Now you have to get a red phase and start making flames

Well it's not too darn confusing anyway. As soon as I saw "scotti's" in the thread title, I knew what he was talking about. They are nice looking snakes.

Congrats on the first (as far as we know) U.S. CB litter.:) I guess these little guys won't be needing a green card.:p
