I will take pics when it arrives, they used a cell phone to take the pic I posted.

The collector I obtained him from is one of the better snake keepers, so I anticipate a nice healthy well fed specimen.

Now that's what I'm talking about. I would love to get my hands on a totally jet black garter. Melanistic easterns just don't quite cut it for me. Now that snake is a stunner!

I must admit, the wandering is much more shiny black and lacks the telltale white spotting of the easterns.

This guy is remarkably mellow for a male.

Wayne thats a great looking snake. I passed up an opportunity to get a pair of LTC mel wandering 3 yrs ago.....I think I made another mistake. Nice pic up.

I made that as a general statement anyways Don, Most male garter snakes are squirrelly, but both of my male wanderings seem rather mellow. I can pick them up and they seem as if they could care less.

I have 3 males, and 2 (flame and normal RS) are kinda skittish like you said. But my anery.... Seems like all he wants is for me to take him out. You can pick up his back half, and he would keep doing his thing with his front half, not even noticing.

My males don't mind handling, but I don't hold them much. They are less mellow than, say, Mama. Ember is more tame than Snakey when it comes to handling. He'll hang out more, lay around and relax, while Snakey just wants to move and court with everything... :D
Thumbelina is pretty calm when you hold him, too. He's a little sweetie.

Your names confuse me sometimes... :D I always forget if Thumbelina and Ember are male or female :D kinda like Richards Amy...

kibakiba

Ember and Thumbelina are boys... Thumbelina was getting a bulky face and didn't have a "bulge" so I was totally sure he was a girl, but he ended up being a boy. He's also more calm than males normally are, which helped me believe he was a girl ;)

all these beautiful snakes... only if I lived 110km south of where I am right now I'd have alot more colorful garters than I do now. Its just so lengthy and super expencive to get US garters to canada unless I attempt to smuggle :/

wish canadian breeders would come out of hiding, about 2 or 3 years ago there was an ad on kijiji for california garter snakes.. was taken down within hours :(

I'll just go curl up in a corner
