Sooooo as we all know I am rather infamous for sticking snakes into the flora of my yard for some nice photos. I finally had the opportunity to do it the other day! And after narrowing it down from over 400 photos... here is the cream of the crop!
First up is a little male ordinoes I got from Richard a while ago. When I received him, I did not know he would start coloring up like this. He was a dull dark gray with pretty much nothing going on... but as he shed and grew a little the red flecking started appearing and his base color is turning BLUE! Not like "if I squint he looks blue" either... I'm talking BLUE. And the stripe continues to fill in, I think eventually he will have a solid red stripe. In this series of photos the only ones that accurately represent his color are the ones of him on the rocks. He looks gray in the photos in the flowers because the UV reflective properties of the flowers mess with the camera and cause it to see things differently. But anyways... he's a little ham... I love him!

And all of these I find on the island are of a dirt brown with varying degrees of the orange. What a keeper.

That's my Miss Piggy's son. Where you see blue, I see grey. "Steel" blue perhaps? I don't know. I still think it's just grey.
I don't know Shannon, I tend to think he will always be "flecked" with color instead of a solid stripe but time will tell I suppose. Here's his mom. Maybe she did look flecked when she was very young and the stripe became solid gradually. ? Who knows. I just know I see big adults that are flecked like the baby and they never do get solid color.

We shall see who is right! He is definitely blue though. As I stated above, the UV reflective properties of the flowers screw with the camera and he appears grey. In person this snake is unmistakably blue! maybe it is your monitor? The pictures on the slate clearly show him to be blue... Everyone else sees it but it could definitely just be your monitor. Come to my house richard and if this snake is gray i will eat him right in front of you! (kidding lol) Each time he sheds more red comes in, so I expect it to continue. It will probably play out similarly to other red garter types, the red takes time to fully "bloom". He has a cute personality too... In my hand he will gently rock his head back and forth. I named him weeble, because weebles wobble but they don't fall down :D

Butters, that little albino checkered you sent to me does the same thing. She's so darn cute. Very calm, seems almost as if she likes to be handled, and always rocks her head back and forth, checking things out, while I'm holding her.:D She's a porker too, and has doubled in size.

A HEALTHY, long term captive striped keelback. I just love these guys. They have a sweet, inquisitive personality, just like a garter, but they completely seem to lack fear... very sweet snakes, I am quite taken with them.

Many of you probably have no idea that I acquired a pair of red coachwhips a few shows ago. I got really lucky to snag the PAIR for $30. Acclimation has been a total success, I have both the male and female eating out of my hands like puppy dogs. This is the female... male is in shed. Male is also 3 times her size! These are fast snakes and my battery was dying, so these photos are not much to look at...

And last, but not least... my beloved flying tree snake... still looking for a mate for her, but it'll happen in good time! have had this snake for 6-7 months now, she eats f/t mice without issue. She also has zero issue biting the @)$%^@& out of me if I even look at her funny. Love this snake! She spends most of her time in a hanging tiki-hut style birds nest in her viv. This snake, hands down, has the best vision and has demonstrated things to me that make me feel like I am working with a monitor lizard as opposed to a snake. She relies purely on sight and she even tilts her head when studying objects.
