I'll go ahead and say I'm probably worrying myself to death for no reason again... I just figured I'd ask, just to make sure. I love my little pissy Snapdragon.

Snap was out and about last night and I was watching her. She's been out of her hide more since I put Mama in her enclosure, in hopes of maybe calming her down a little (it seems to be working). I noticed she "yawned" about 5 times within a few minutes, a couple times leaving her mouth open for a few seconds longer. I figured she was adjusting her jaws, but even when I was closely watching her, it didn't look like she was. I picked her up, and she didn't have anything blocking her breathing, that I could see, and no obvious problems... Please tell me I'm just worrying about nothing... Haha.

I think you're worrying a bit much ;)

That being said, They also yawn at times when they have not eaten.

I like the "I just woke up" yawns best, completely random and seemingly bigger yawns.

Relax, Mom. You are worrying too much. My snakes "yawn" all the time. Stretch their mouths or just open the jaws for the heck of it. It's so cute!

You're worring about nothing.:D

Reminds me of the old joke. "Hey, call me a cab! OK you're a cab."

Thanks :p

None of my snakes have ever yawned more than once, so 5 times in a row made me worry.

It did give me a chance to hold Snap for a little bit, though. Since I put Mama in there she isn't hissing and biting as much.

Its so cool watching them yawn. I wish one of mine would yawn five times in a row. I wonder if snakes do it to help regulate there temperature. I wouldn't imagine but its Just a thought. I know alligators sometimes open there mouths excessively or keep it open to regulate there body temperature

Haha, cute. On a feeding day a while ago, Squirt, Thumbelina and Runt were coiled up together and all yawned around the same time.

That might scare me away from owning any other kind of snakes, though! ;) Then again, my boyfriend is more of a lizard guy... He wants a couple tegus. I do too, they're interesting and very cute.

Sammy apparently got stuck in a yawn the other day, and I started worrying because it looked like she was having trouble getting her jaw re-aligned
