He is bigger than the one Don posted.. a nice mature male. I should send him to you Richard... I have no use for him here! Well, other than, I like admiring how clean and crispy his black and yellow are.

yeah, that's pretty awesome. I had a good idea but the girl that sent that one to Don offered it to me but all she had was awful photos and you couldn't really tell how the snake really looked. She was in a big hurry to get rid of it and I just couldn't do it at the time so I pointed her in Don's direction. I see now that's a very handsome snake. At least I think that's the one.

That sacramento area elegans sure is pretty. The only T. elegans' I've ever found in my part of the country looks like this. Pretty cool too.

Most are rather "black and white" .sometimes the grey areas can look a little bluish, but these are hardly blue snakes. I really should just go get a couple of them this summer. It's not that far from me. Just over an hour's drive. It's a nice place to go when the weather is nice anyway.

I'll try to make it up there this summer. Last time I was in that area, these snakes were ankle-deep practically. I just didn't know what they were at the time, other than "a garter snake".

Seems to be missing from the captive trade too. Probably because this form has a very limited range in a somewhat remote area of Oregon. I really don't know why they call it the "Willamette Valley" variation when it doesn't actually occur in the valley. It's in the foothills of Oregon's coast range, west of the valley. It's definitely a mountainous area.

I would love to work with some of those. I plan in the near future working with lots of garters.
