a neighbor of mine is working with casting and painting. he has worked on a few fish and they turned out awesome. he wanted to try some snakes. I had a couple in the freezer that passed away. he made this casting and landscape for me. turned out nice. I thought people might be interested in them.... he is working on a couple others. they can be painted closely to match most garters.

Very cool. If i hadn't read your description i would have sworn that was a live snake on a fake background :)

drat....I took pics of part of the proces.... now I can't seem to find them. he takes a deceased snake and either silicone or alginate and makes a mold of the snake. once the mold is done, he then pours whatever the stuff is that he makes the snakes with (I'm not sure what it is.... a clear liquid and a catalyst....) this dries and forms a perfect copy of the snake. once this is cured and dried, the then paints it and adds a base to it. painting can be a pain on the smaller snakes....all the detail.
