As you all know my gravid T.radix (Daisy) is getting big for her smaller size. The last two days I've noticed something different with her eating.
She's still as eager to eat but can't eat as quickly.
After taking in a worm she takes a longer time getting it down. Her breathing is also much deeper during this time.
I think for the remainder of her gravid time I will limit her to worms as they are soft and more easily passed.
Have any of you notice anything similar to this with your gravid(large for the female's size) females?
What are your thoughts about limiting her to softer foods?

Yes, I definitely notice when they are in late stages, especially when they are as big as daisy. At this point I feed them smaller meals more often. Like you say "cramped for space" The babies take up a lot of room and cramp the rest of the organs, including the diaphragm so it takes a little more work to breath. Feeding them large meals adds to the problem. You can still give her dense stuff like pinkies but don't let her get stuffed.

I actually do this with babies too. I prefer to feed them small meals daily or nearly daily until they look a little thicker, as opposed to putting them straight on big stuff as soon as they can manage to swallow it. It just seems that it's easier on their system and probably has a lower metabolic cost when it comes to digestion.
