Today we finished work on Lily's new home :D
It's a bigger space, and is a double; so we have a home ready for our next snake (which is currently being used for storage).
It's an arboreal vivexotic viv that can be split into two with a centre shelf (which is what we've done).
Finishing touches and setup done today, and now she's all moved in.

Next bits will be to get a nice big brach in there, and some more hanging plants at the back. Getting moss tomorrow, and (hopefully) door locks on ebay.

Unfortunately, she was hiding and exploring when I took the pics, shy as usual. :o
Right now she's curled up in the coconut hide.

Thank you! :D

Moss, a silk orchid, a big branch and a new big hide were today's purchases.
I will try to get some pics tomorrow (she's currently hiding in the new hide), it looks so much nicer with the branch in.

Erin - Lily doesn't have a kid, but I'm hoping to be acquiring a new baby this year. Fingers crossed! ;) Hopefully she'll let me take her photo tomorrow.

Thanks! The joys of ebay. ;) I picked up her first glass tank on there for £5, and it served us really well. But since she's getting longer now, I wanted to see about getting a bigger space for her. When I saw this one, I thought it was perfect since I want a second snake. Won it for £67, which I was pleased with. (Hubbie gets a bonus from work this month :D) Instead of paying out the £25 ish that they charge for the dividing shelf, I got the board and we did it ourselves. I'm a big believer in DIY. And ebay ;)

do you know what kind of thermostat that is, and where it was from?

Yes, it's a ThermoControl II, made by Lucky Reptile. I got it at my local independent petstore.

This is their thermostats page:
Lucky Reptile - Products (http://www.luckyreptile.com/products/145/en/pid1,2$pid2,3336/products.html)

On the box, it states it comes in German, French, UK, USA, Australian and Swiss plug options.

Sorry about the photo quality, but it's the best I could do ;)

New branch, hide and flowers in place:

Cute little booger ;) like my male, seems to be from Northern climes with a high dgree of melanism.

Yeah, the red is quite understated ;) Is yours a little firecracker, too? 'Feisty' doesn't quite cover her personality :D

He's actually perfectly well behaved. He does have his 'little man syndrome' moments but I've actually only ever had a headbutt from him. :D

Ha ha ha ha! Love it. :D
I think Lily's actually becoming better behaved since going into this viv. I think she's much happier having a front door instead of an overhead one. The last two times she's been picked up, there's been no biting or musking. :D

They do like those front entrance enclosures. I too saw a great change in mine when I switched to them.

Nice viv! I know it's really hard to tell the difference between subspecies sometimes, but that snake looks an awful lot like some of my baby T.s. concinnus'. Which of course, don't look like a typical concinnus. They look more like little fitchii's. (I assure you they are pure T.s. concinnus however. Uncommon 3-stripe morph)

I sometimes have serious doubts about pet store and even breeder claims when they call their snakes "oregon red spotted" when often they are really T.s. fitchii that happen to be from Oregon. I also often see snakes called "red sided garter" when they are actually concinnus or fitchii.

Your snake looks an awful lot like a fitchii or 3 stripe morph concinnus.

That's a fitchii trait. Always nasty mean little boogers. That's why I never kept any long term. They were mostly ill adapted to captivity and had bad attitudes and liked to bite and musk.

Mix,
What type of heat source are you using?

They feel secure that they cannot be approached from other sides. They know where to be watching for visitors. That always makes a snake feel better about where they are.;)
