well, the show my garters were stars in finally made it to animal planet... the show is called "Infested" my episode is called "Spiders, Snakes, and Ants"
I was a little disappointed....filmed a ton of stuff, good for at least a half hour show, possibly even an hour....didn't think it would be jammed in an hour with 2 other infestations. anyway, I was thrilled to see it!!! They showed a brief shot of my website....one part of a page with my yellow eastern. I didn't get the credits at the end that I was told I would get....and didn't get a copy yet either.
it has been shown twice that I have seen.. :D Nikki and I had tons of fun doing the film shoot!!!!

Yeah, we (well I did anyway) pretty much already knew this much. Thing is, I don't have cable TV. Is there some way to watch this online? I can only find clips that don't include snakes or any footage of your film shoot.
Well anyway, lesson learned Don. If they filmed an hour or two of footage, you can pretty much figure they're only going to use a few minutes. If they were doing an hour show just about the snakes, they would have filmed at least 8 hours of footage.

Here you go guys. Direct download the entire episode here in AVI format. 624 x 352 [Xvid mpeg-4 video with MP3 audio] 350 MB. Some of you may need to download and install ffdshow direct show filter or the Xvid codec in order to play the AVI.
Watching it now.
Just follow the link, choose "regular download", follow the prompts and save the AVI to your computer. Open (play) the file after the download is complete.
Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: APIDSTD.ants.spiders.and.snakes.avi (http://hotfile.com/dl/96128477/f350095/APIDSTD.ants.spiders.and.snakes.avi)
I'll clip out the relevant part and post it to youtube later.

You're welcome. :)
I don't want to get hassled about copyright issues, so I only cropped out and uploaded a quick clip of the scene showing Don's website. ("Fair Use") Also, much of the footage filmed at his place is scattered throughout the episode. It's not one continuous clip.

I looked the other day and couldn't find the snake episode.
I did find the spider and ant episodes which were supposed to be aired with the snakes.
Maybe I just missed it .

In case you guys have a problem with downloading the entire episode, last night I cropped out the 3 parts that are about garter snakes, then I joined them together in one continuous clip. I'm pretty sure that all the closeups of snakes on the lawn are footage taken at Don's place.
Here it is:

They don't stream it online. Beware of websites that claim to. They try to trick you into downloading and installing their "plugin" which is really malware.

Cool footage of your snakes Don! But I watched that clip and if you ask me... they are portraying snakes in such a negative light. That has really put me off of animal planet... they way that guy described the snakes... not to mention the fact that animal planet did nothing to explain "the smell of the snakes" (the snakes musking as a defense mechanism) or how the reason they reached around to bite the guy is because they were defending themselves. Isn't that what animal planet is supposed to be about? Educating people about the animals? That show to me looks like it is just feeding off of people's misunderstandings of snakes.... is that what animal planet has to sink to now to get people to watch their channel? they even play creepy music and try to portray garter snakes as scary. I guess that means my grandparents farm has a serious "infestation" too! (this is nothing against you Don! I am venting at how dumbed down animal planet has really become)
I am actually surprise no one else called animal planet out on this earlier. I can see calling it an infestation if the snakes are in your house, falling from the ceiling.... but your yard? I mean geez! the snakes were here first! And Don, I hope you get some credit, because you are owed it. I can't believe they told you they would give you credit and did not... not even a copy yet!? Sheesh Animal Planet, step up your game! They did not deserve to use footage of your most beautiful vagrans and not even give credit where credit is due!

yea....they kinda messed it all up..... made the snakes out to be the bad guys... idiots! I haven't really watched anything on animal planet for a long time...has gotten ridiculous...not even worth watching. I emailed the lady from the production company and asked about the copy I was supposed to receive....haven't heard anything back! I don't blame them at all....animal planet screwed things up. we filmed enough stuff during the day to make an hour long show. thats what we thought it was gonna be....but I guess animal planet had other (dumber) ideas. we had a great time there filming and was worth it but.....kinda sucks that I got no credit at all!!! they even showed a page off my website!!!!

Cool vid Don ! I'm w/ Shannon on this, Animal Planet dropped the ball portraying them in a negative light. One would think a show like A. P. would be (more) pro-animal than what they ended up portraying. Even the damn pythons in the Everglades got better press than thamnophis !

Animal Planet is a joke!!! Just look at their new catch phrase slogan: "Suprizingly Human". I don't want to watch an animal network to see how humans mishandle and misunderstand even the most basic of animals. I think they would get at least a more consistant viewer demographic if they stuck to real work studies that were going on with real animals. I would watch it all day if they showed shows that more resemble NOVA, NATURE, or some of the BBC work. Unfortunately they have become the worst of the worst when it comes to sensationalism.
Getting back on topic: Don I am glad you got some face time, and hopefully some good exposure will come of it.

Maybe it refers to humans?
But yeah, a lot of shows these days seem to cater to phobics and zoosadists, rather than those interested in nature and wildlife.

Honestly one of the fears I have of ever selling my place would be the possibility that the new owners would not welcome all the snakes that live here.
One time right after it rained, the grass in my field came to life with Garters and Storeria looking for worms.
snake haters could have a killing spree lasting days out there, Hopefully my kids remain interested and don't sell it when I'm gone.

Agreed. AP also has more and more shows that have nothing to do with animals. I Shouldn't be Alive for example. Infested is ok but it tends to lean towards the animals being the invaders, not the humans. What a farce.

They(A.P.) are just feeding the non-nature populate. People that look at nature as interesting but fail to see the animal's side of the equation.
They always see it as nature moving in on our property. Never thinking about how we humans displace them from their homes.
I live with(wild) my radixes. They tolerate me and I don't mind them at all.
They offer no danger to me or my children and do help control the pests along with offering the other perks.;)

I thought that was pretty sweet... I'm sorry the Session family went through that, but I'm also disappointed that the show seemed to really try to show Garter snakes as harmfully as they could... hyping the musking but failing to make more than a mention that they weren't poisonous.
