Dull ..... I missed the perfect feeding session today :( .... mind you  Wednesday sounds like camera battery obliterating time. Something to do on my day off :D

By the skin of it's shutter  screen likes to have funky time every now and again. ;) It still takes nice pics and vids though.

I tried today and I swear my camera has a mind of it's own, and only takes lousy shots at the perfect moment. Works great for every shot except the right moment. The very second it's too late, it starts cooperating again.

Excuses are like armpits. Everybody's got a couple and they usually stink:D
Sounds like "operator error":D

Hey Richard, have you tried holding the button half way down so the auto-focus can do it's job?:p

ConcinusMan
01-11-2011, 02:02 PM
Yes, that's what I'm saying. Works perfectly during test shots. Got everything setup, working great. Got the right position, got focus, etc. Once I put the food in the mouth, I do that halfway button thing, focus fails until the food is down the throat, then viola! I got focus.

There's plenty of time, I'll get it in time. I kinda like this one, but It's not very sharp. I'll keep trying. It's time to feed big bertha a mouse. maybe I'll get good shot of her.

This one's cute, but I want to keep trying to get a sharper, brighter image.

A little secret I do (I guess it's no secret anymore) lighting is everything, I sometimes hold a maglight (flashlight or torch as they are called in Europe) shining it on the snake, the auto focus on my camera works better.

Some of my cages have the basking light hanging from a ceiling hook "swag style" so I leave the light on.

Shadows are your enemy when taking pictures with an auto-focus camera.

I know, I am getting better at it creating the right conditions and using the right settings. I actually have several focus options, and have had better luck at close-ups by using one of the manual settings. All that being equal, you're left with getting the timing right for that perfect shot.

I gotta question, the picture with comments contest, does that have to be a thought, or can it be like something said by a second person who's not in the picture?

guidofatherof5
01-11-2011, 07:34 PM
It's a "caption" contest. I don't think it has to be a thought only.
I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong.:D

Suck-ups!

First off, Zooplan's photo is fantastic and perhaps even the greatest photo, but it's obvious to me that the snake has a mouthful of finger, not food. Just sayin!

Don't get me wrong, I love that photo, but heck, does it really fit the theme?

*awaiting angry mobs throwing tomatoes* :o

Complaining about not getting votes is a good way to make sure you don't get any votes. You know that.

Nothing meant towards your photo. Nice photo.;)
I didn't vote for it only because I felt another photo was better. I also didn't vote for 9 other photos.
We're not talking about the cover of a magazine here. I love to see the community share their photos.
The voting is even fun to watch. I like it when a new member enters a great photo.
It's all just for enjoyment.

I know this Steve. I am saying all of this with a light heart. I don't really feel jolted about it. It just came a surprise is all. I thought I had a good chance of being at least in the top 3. Just goes to show you that you can't always figure on how people will vote.

Even if the photo wasn't mine, looking at all of them, I would still put my own at least #3.

You guys should know, I'm not really upset or anything like that. That would be stupid. This has been a great contest. Lots of fun!

I won't dignify that with a response. I get the feeling that Steve is trying to get me riled up again.:p Even Stefan said I had a good point. I know other people were thinkin' it but didn't say anything. I should be patted on the back for having the guts to say something. Can't you find anyone else who's a much fun as me, to pick on? C'mon now! Steve, you couldn't replace me if you tried.:p

Congrats to the whiner. I mean, the winner. It is a great photo, Udo.;)
