See Through Radix

One of the interesting things about albino snakes is the ability to see the organs inside.
I never thought about using this to sex a snake.
Sexing my albino radix(male) by tail shape was easy but I was also able to confirm that by being able to see the hemipenis tucked inside the tail.
I'll try to get a photo and post it at a later time.
Pretty cool.

Yup. You sure can see it all. I didn't really start seeing his thingy tucked in there until my Iowa boy was about 6 months old though. Shows up as an area where light doesn't pass through as much. I did notice right away that when he moves around vigorously, the dark spot (his heart) gets darker from the increased flow of returning deoxygenated blood and when he's eating, his eyes and top of head go from pink to red from oxygenated blood flowing to that area. Also, when he was still a baby, I would hold him up to a bright light and I could see his lung filling and exhaling and I could also tell how far his last meal had gotten through his system.

Can't see that anymore. He's colored up (yellow/orange) and gotten too thick for the light to pass through but his eyes and head still get really red while he's swallowing.:D

Want a snake like this? Somebody here on the forum (or elsewhere) is bound to have babies available this year. They go for about $100 shipped. I got Amy from Don Belnap. (ssssnakeluvr). He grew from 9.7 inches to about 2 feet in a year.

Amy is an awesome snake...and I would love to have one like him. Unfortunately, I am returning to school and not working right now, so I wouldn't be able to afford it. But maybe in the future...
