We are snowed in on Christmas Eve so I took the time to take a few pics of some of my 2010s that I am growing out so they are not in the refrigerator brumating like the adults, but are instead still in the snake room and on heat, eating large fuzzie mice twice a week and growing like weeds and starting to color up nicely. Some may even breed this spring if they put on enough weight by Febuary and I can give them a short brumation, we will see.
Merry Christmas to everyone on Thamnophis.com

Very nice Jeff! How is the silver project going?
Unfortunately Tom the silver gene comes with a few loose screws if you know what I mean? but I still have several adults in the refrigerator that will produce this spring if all goes well and with a lot of luck, next thing on the agenda is to do a lot of outcrossing, but that may be in vein as there may be linkages that may prove impossible to overcome regardless of breedings, but one must try and exhause all efforts for a gene as pretty and unique as the silver gene.... then again at some point maybe its time to throw in the towel, move on and focus on other projects? It reminds me of the spider ball pythons "stargazer" but only much worse. Thats what I expect when combining freaks of nature, a circus show with good bad and ugly and sometimes the extrordinary, but thats what I love, so I still have a lot of hope for the silver, and silver combos, and the challenge makes all the more reward.

Expensive is a relative term Richard, I think they are dirt cheap, an absolute steal for the beauty, a real bang for your buck....just compare ball python prices.....and show me a bright red ball python....thats right you can't...if such a beautiful snake were to exist in ball pythons it would be tens of thousands of dollors and stay that price for a very long time.

Ok, let me rephrase. Relatively expensive for a garter snake.
