Erythristic AND melanistic at the same time?

Has anyone seen this picture? This guy at Field Herp Forum says this is an eastern garter caught in southern Ontario.

Looks melanistic but at the same time, well.. just look. Weird!

yes, its an eastern...was a lot of discussion on it way back before the field herp forum got screwed and lost the entire thing. I don't know if anyone kept it and bred it to see what happened

It was released.The debate was whether it was soaking in rusty water or something like that.

Look how distinct the edge of the rust color is when it meets the belly. Soaking in rust water? seriously? I don't know about that.

they were debating that it soaked in rust water, then the belly got the color scraped off crawling around..... would have been nice to keep and see what happened with her, possibly breed her...
