I would say that your photo is acceptable since the color your talking about doesn't really enhance the photo. It is a very small percentage of the photo and not being used to accent the black and white.
I hope that makes sense.
I'll be honest if a photo was posted of a snake(black and white) on a very colorful flower(in color) I would consider that unacceptable.
Any other thoughts out there on this subject.

 whats that:confused:
Itīs hard to decide, if it is a gorgeous morph or excellent photo editing
really cool picture:cool:

While looking at the sample and first picture I wondered, that guess about the specy/ subspecy/morph of the pictured snakes might become an additional fun this month.

I think that's a great idea Udo. Where should we post our guesses? on this thread?

Since I'm not in the photo contest I'll tell you my photo is of a female T.s.parietalis;)

To be honest, I'd rather you gray-scaled that photo, Don. It's neat that the snake looks like it's in black and white, but you know it'd get "extra points" for that alone and personally, I'd rather have this contest be about photography, not who's got the coolest snake. I also disagree with Steve, turning it black and white does make a noticable difference.

I will leave the species and morph out fornow and let every one guess...
I put it here kind of as a joke since the snake itself is black and white :D
unfortunately she passed away last year unexpectedly. she was a cool snake and I was really bummed!

Yeah! It's been a while since we had such nice photos in the the contest, and so many! It will be tough to choose.

Many cameras have a black and white setting or you can edit on the computer. But also I would think that it would be acceptable to post a color photo of a snake that is actually black and white wouldn't it?

And the poll results so far, reflect that. It is a tough one this month. Too many great photos!

I actually got a vote without voting for myself. Wow. Must be somebody partial to baby concinnus'. Gee, who could it be?;)

Oops. Somebody used photobucket and now their photo isn't there. Bad move. What's it going to take to convince you people to stop using photobucket!:p

I have been using photobucket for years with no issues.....

ConcinusMan

Yeah, yeah. I just get tired of seeing this, and It's always photobucket:

I know what it says, but much of the time, that's not the case. It's usually a problem on their end.

HazAnga

to me, the problem could be on the users side of photobucket, because if you move that picture into a different folder in photobucket (ie. sorting and organizing) the link becomes broken and the photo is no longer available to look at.

ConcinusMan

Sure, it could be but often is not the users fault.

So.. anyway, when will the winner be declared?

Has the winner of the photo contest been declared? We should get going on January's contest. We need a theme.

Declared? The contest was over about a week ago.

Had to ask. The poll doesn't appear to be locked.

Stefan-A
01-08-2011, 01:47 PM
No, but it does say: "Voters: 16. This poll is closed"

In the past the mod. has always declared the winners.
At least that's the only way I remember it. Didn't think anything had changed.

Stefan-A
01-08-2011, 02:01 PM
Mainly because I'm apparently the only one paying any attention to state of the contests.

guidofatherof5
01-08-2011, 02:24 PM
Are you saying that any forum member can declare a winner and request the next months theme?
Are we also to post the next months contest?
I guess I thought this was a mod. resposibility.
If I'm wrong I stand corrected.

Stefan-A
01-08-2011, 02:39 PM
The poll itself does all the declaring. I'll post the contests, as usual. Anyone can congratulate winners.

As for requesting themes, that shouldn't even be necessary. It's the responsibility of the winner to provide one.
